Michael Peck (b.1977, Australia) - Untitled. Oil on Linen, 198 x 198cm (2011)
Using crashed World War II planes, as seen through the eyes of innocent children, the new body of work explores Michael’s relationship with his two grandfathers, who both served in World War II.
Both men passed away within months of each other in 2010, prompting Michael to contemplate how little he knew about their lives and consider our inherited experiences of conflict across generations.

Mikenesses #29.
I Samurai Jack‘d myself.
(feel free to follow that with “off”, but just know that I made the joke first)
Mikenesses #50.
I Jeff Smith’d myself.
So two milestones today: I’ve created 50 Mikenesses so far. I’ve taken an hour out of almost every day and made something just for myself, and it’s been terrific and pretty educational and the response has been incredible.
Today also marks the five-year anniversary of my full-time career as a freelance illustrator. Five years ago yesterday, I quit my job at the art-supply store and dove into this. I have never regretted it, not for a second.
Mikenesses #62.
I Dr. Seuss’d myself.
(I decided against using the final line “on a road that’s the color of liver disease” for matters of taste)
Sagaki Keita: Doodling Classical Art
It’s hard to imagine how much time Japanese artist Sagaki Keita spends on creating his doodles of Greek sculptures and other works of art. Upon careful inspection, you might notice something different from his work.
Reimagination of the Day: In his ongoing poster series “Movies from an Alternate Universe,” illustrator Peter Stults imagines what it might look like if modern-day movies were made during previous Hollywood eras. “Who would be in it? Who would direct it? So here we are.”
